The Motorolla Moto Z is the company’s flagship for 2016 and it lays big money on its variation. Motorola achieves modularity with MotoMods – interchangeable back covers of the phone makes it more handy. We’ll talk about them in in a while. But first let’s have a look on what the Moto Z is all about.
Motorolla Moto Z – Body
- It’s a 5.2mm thin
- Weigh tremendously light at 136 grams.
Because of thin body, It lacks 3.5mm headphone jack but Motorolla has provided an USB-C adapter as its substitute.
The back camera 13MP camera (1.12micrometer pixel size) of Motorolla Moto Z has f/1.8 lens, OIS and laser autofocus. At 5.2mm, the lump at the back is relatively big which has the dual-LED flash is inside the camera ring. It’s fascinating that this design of the camera brings back the memories of Moto 360 face.
The front facing 5MP camera for selfies with LED flash on its side for low light. It’s best for selfie cravers. Below the display, there’s a fingerprint sensor, which was quite abrupt in responding.
Screen & Display
The screen is a 5.5″ AMOLED panel with a QHD resolution which offers bright and vibrant colors. You can change the settings as per your likeness though- Normal or vivid. Motorolla Moto Z would be much better if it had the third option just like Samsung’s adaptive mode.
The battery size is rather small- 600mAh battery. Which gives the interpretation that last long on a single charge, but the MotoMods at the back that adds extra juice in case you need it.
Specs and Software
It would be great in functioning and everything is as fast as a cheetah with the Snapdragon 820 in control, firmware of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The 4GB of RAM with Adreno 530 GPU and USB Type-C connectivity. Final versions will include 32 and 64GB internal storage, in addition to an external microSD card slot.
The MotoMods are magnetic covers on the back of the Motorolla Moto Z having sixteen pins and two durable magnets. With the help of these magnets and additional cover can be attached.
We tested the Power Pack Mod, which adds 2,220mAh battery as an external source of energy. Formerly, it comes in three different designs: Icipio, Kate Spade, and Tumi with many other to come.
The niftier ones like the Insta-Share Mod adds a Pico projector on the back with a 480p resolution of an image size of 70 inches diameter.
Other MotoMods include the SoundBoost Mod with 3-watt JBL speakers with extra 1,000mAh battery.
Motorolla Moto Z pledged successor Z phones will continue the same size and shape to guarantee compatibility with MotoMods.
